I noticed a child monk—he can’t have been more than ten years old—teaching a group of five-year-olds. He had a great aura about him, the poise and confidence of an adult.
“What are you doing?” I asked.
“We just taught their first class ever,” he said, then asked me, “What did you learn in your first day of school?”
“I started to learn the alphabet and numbers. What did they learn?”
“The first thing we teach them is how to breathe.”
“Why?” I asked.
“Because the only thing that stays with you from the moment you’re born until the moment you die is your breath. All your friends, your family, the country you live in, all of that can change. The one thing that stays with you is your breath.”
This ten-year-old monk added, “When you get stressed—what changes? Your breath. When you get angry—what changes? Your breath. We experience every emotion with the change of the breath. When you learn to navigate and manage your breath, you can navigate any situation in life.”
A mind-boggling perspective on Advocacy came my way !! 🙂
College Student Group asked a lawyer
*So what does ‘advocacy’ mean?”*
Lawyer said:
*I will present an example for this!*
*Suppose two people come to me, one is very clean and the other is very dirty. I advise both of them to get clean and take bath.*
*Now you guys tell me, who among them will take a shower ?? “*
One student said: *”The one who is dirty will take a shower.”*
The lawyer said:
*No, but the clean person will do it, because he has the habit of bathing, while the dirty does not know the importance of cleaning*
*Lawyer :: Now tell who will take a shower ?? “*
The second student said: *Clean person*
The lawyer said:
*No, but the dirty person will take a bath because he is the one who needs cleaning.*
*Now tell who will take a shower ?? “*
Two students said: *”The one who is dirty will take a shower.”*
The lawyer said:
*”No, but both will take a bath because the clean person has a habit of bathing, while the dirty one needs a bath.*
*Now tell who will take a shower ?? “*
Now three students speak together: *”Both of them will take a shower.”*
The lawyer said:
*”Wrong, no one will take a bath, because dirty is not used to bathing, whereas clean one does not need to bathe*
*Now tell who will take a shower ?? “*
A student politely said:
*”You give a different answer every time and every answer seems to be correct. How do we know the correct answer ???”*
Lawyer said:
*This is just ‘advocacy’! It is not important what the reality is*
*The important thing is, how many possible arguments can you offer to prove your point.* “😂

Wisdom from souls who know
Say angels fly, as they take themselves lightly
A matter of being at ease..so that you will traverse far
Fly knowing the roots are steady on the ground
Soar in the sky sensing the wind in your wings.
Stay on course… you will find yourself.
Life is better the moment you realise
Its value in every now.
So when worry and despair imbalances your thoughts
When anguish and self doubts rocks your self esteem
Rest assured it shall all pass and time will get you over the brink
Just care to have faith, ease up your thoughts
And choose to live, dancing lightly with life .
Resonated deeply with this lovely visual shared by Sanja Sremacki so resharing it along with my verses above as a dedication to this very beautiful reflection of ‘Living life in the lightness of being’.
Today the world is expanding rapidly on many fronts with shrinking communication time and reachability across the world… and the fact is, organizations are confronted with a multigenerational workplace.
Values and beliefs that was so far held by the world are finding new definitions and for many its difficult to catch up with the changing trends. New words of communication are coined every day and the different generations suddenly find themselves alien to each other.
For organizations to acclimatize to a changing world, the old patterns of thoughts and mindsets need fresh perspective…
Time and again a revision of what’s redundant or what cannot work in a fast moving world needs identification but with discernment as there is much wisdom garnered in the experiences of life and living.
Here are 6 A’s worth imbibing in work places to sustain teams and evolve for the better.
1. Accept
Accept there is a place for every one… be inclusive of the diversity… Accept that the differences are what is unique to the person and teams need people with diverse intelligence to take it to the next level. Every stage comes along with some learnings.
2. Acknowledge
Acknowledge the value of interdependence at work strengthening a culture of inclusiveness. Importance of co-operation in collaborative work cannot be stressed enough.
3. Allow
Allow the expression of new ideas, suggestions and let it find listening ears no matter which team or who it comes from.
4.Appreciate
Appreciate and celebrate the work done, even the little wins help to motivate the team. Appreciation is an evolved method of correction.
5. Align
Align the set of achievable goals of teams with the mission & vision of the organization. More the alignment the faster and easier the channelling of communication by maintaining open communication greater the chance of successful endeavors.
6. Accountable
Accountability is being accountable about to being able take responsibility at all times and own it.
As a Consultant with a deep interest in Wellness, at work this is what I help facilitate day in and out especially so, in these uncertain times.
From applications of art and movements to creating space for dialogues to understand shifting mindsets & perspectives I have been mentoring diverse teams at work places.
Every team afterall, is made of unique individuals but the issues faced as a team are often similar. As a result of interaction & the scope of work different patterns of team dynamics are created.
If you have been responsible to manage teams to collaborate effectively….
Do share what kind of challenges have cropped up in your teams and how have you managed them.
