This is the story of Cara Khan whose sense of spirit & adventure made her dare the seemingly impossible …
Cara E. Yar Khan is an international human rights advocate promoting the inclusion of people with disabilities within all facets of society.
Thank you my dear friend Ali Anani, for it was you who shared the above Ted talk link and suggested I share a few thoughts on her.
I dedicate these following verses to her daring spirit and dancing soul!
Life is
Inexplicable uncertainty in the now
Undefinable strength in the moment
Unimaginable challenges that arise
Infinite possibilities in the potential
Unstoppable hope in the living
Be it in strength or inspite of weakness
No matter the threats or unexpected opportunities
Life shapes and moulds in experience
Be it the desires, wants or needs
Life is a journey unto itself
Life is a circle in the living.
In salute to the very courageous Cara E. Yar Khan Her inspirational life story is an epitome of the magic of living a bigger bolder and yet a purpose driven life, In her I see the verve, and enthusiasm in pursuit of her Passions and her drive towards her Purpose as much as the Perseverance to attain it. And when these 3 Ps combine, success is bound to manifest itself. What matters is that she ignored what was preposterous and dared to dream.
Ignore the naysayers You have one life Live it well Give it the best you have got!
Keep the faith in trust and self belief Let go of illusions of less in assumptions You have everything you need within you In daring beyond doubts &fear Living life lovingly!
Truly nothing is insurmountable There is in you, the power That manifests when you need it most You may not know the strength And capabilities that you are carrying. But it is always there with you Simply trust in yourself To be there for you! You are more than enough for you!
I turn to self reflection and solitude walking in contemplative introspection, when I need to rebalance and align myself , as in doing so I am able to understand and reconsider how difficult it has been, given the circumstances and I comfort myself by acknowledging that I have done my best.
I am grateful for this ability to write and paint my heart away, and express myself through arts, just as much as being kinder and compassionate with myself. For in every such moment, I am learning to be a better me.
I also find great solace in meditative movements and soulful dancing that help me bounce back to normalcy.
As an employer, recruiting the right people for the job is extremely crucial for a successful recruitment.
While hiring Your degrees may not matter that much As much as… Your integrity, sense of ownership and dedication at work. Yes, the employers are seeking all of you, beyond the certifications Your drive, your ability & your commitment Is visible in all that you say & do.
For it truly does not matter where you come from or what you know, What matters is what you do with what you know.
Build the self to be aware, empathic and emotionally intelligent beyond your degrees and specialization.
For even if degrees get you the job It is your ability & adaptability that keeps you there.
Sail through life
Steering away from density
Be in the moment.
Live fully.
Rest easy sleep well
Be generous be mindful
Let your moves be wise
Choose well.
Be safe than sorry!
Let your boat of life be light
Burden it not by overloading
For it gets difficult to carry
The weight of your burdens
Be light and sail on
In the lightness of being.
The only bird that dares to peck an eagle is the crow. He sits on his back and bites his neck. The eagle does not respond, nor fight with the crow. It does not spend time or energy on the crow.
It just opens its wings and begins to rise higher in the heavens. The higher the flight, the harder it is for the crow to breathe and then the crow falls due to lack of oxygen.
Learn from the eagle and don’t fight the crows. Just keep ascending. They might be along for the ride, but they’ll fall off.
Life is unique and cannot be boxed in frames
We cannot be a confined statement, as we are so much more.
To accept to be defined, is a defeat of possibilities.
As we are unpredictable in spontaneity,
As much as we are disciplined in character.
But we cannot be one without the other.
There is much of everything in us
That is how we are born
As a cosmic expression
Of creation asserting itself as a
being.
Each individual needs space and sound in the right balance.
To each his own
The choice to speak, share
And stay silent
Rests within us.
In every shy person there is a voice and opinion waiting to speak.
In every gregarious person there is a need for quiet and silence.
There are shades and tones hues and gradients in every one.
Every one is best the way they are.
The above clip is my dedication to my dear mother. They are a compilation from her own set of artworks dated around 55 years back in time or more.
The reason I share this is to encourage people to see possibilities in creativity and how it can soulfully connect us all, through creative enrichments.
To give you the background…my mother had and still has a fine sense of design and her drawings always had an artistic flow. But unfortunately the daily grind of life and living took its toll and art and creativity was pushed into the background perhaps not realizing the innate talents. But the truth is, a lot happens in appreciation than in indifference.
So her skills were lying untapped and unrecognized. In time as I grew up and while on a visit to my maternal grandparents home in the village, I chanced upon her collection of drawings and paintings stacked in the attic gathering dust in complete ignorance.
The moment I saw them I knew they have to be brought out to see the light of the day… although sadly it was personally disheartening, to see many of the beautiful pieces made on paper, crackling and crumbling in time.
I brought them back with me to the city and took pictures of what was left of it and tried to salvage it piecing them together.
By then I was encouraged by friends and relatives who saw and deeply appreciated them too.
I hit upon the idea of creating a video clip using technology to enhance her original design sense. Yes, they are not as good as her original artworks, for technology is way too perfect to bring out the joy of uniqueness in the human hand.
Yet it is my humble attempt to value the time spent in creating by her own hand with the limitations of the resources available to her in those times.
There are far too many paintings, so I pieced them like a kaleidoscope of sorts to get a sense of her artistic endeavours.
Many times we fail to see the hidden talents in our loved ones. We relate with them for years and hardly know the depth of who they truly are.
Art has a way of bringing out the brilliance of the light within us by bridging gaps in our understandings but also opening new perspectives of thinking.
Today is the day I was born, and one of the ways I choose to celebrate it, is by dedicating this post to my dear mother Anjana.
Thank you, mom, for the beauty you create, being who you are! God bless.
