An artist leaves much more than creativity in the artwork.
There is a voice in every frame, speaking deeply if you care to listen.
That voice carries the artist’s choices of color and composition, of style and strokes, of moods and feelings breathed into the birth of art.
The artist speaks through the work. The energy of the artist is embedded in words, in lines, in shapes and forms.
When a piece feels complete, the artist releases it to the world. And yet, the energy lives on, transforming itself through time and the spaces it inhabits.
Art is transformed again in translation and interpretation, reshaped by those who encounter it.
As creators, whether of images or words, our work continues to live, each viewer or reader sensing its energy uniquely. And so it flows… transforming itself in time.
I wrote this piece earlier but it was in my drafts as I missed posting it. Better late than never they say and I hope the movie is still streaming on Netflix.
As a lover of dance and as a ballroom and latin dance educator for two decades and more, I have always been delighted to watch any good dance related movies, especially those centered on partner dancing. Having enjoyed wonderful movies like’ Shall we dance’ and ‘Dance with me’ and so many more, I eagerly await such rare kind of movies. As the love of movements runs in my blood and passion for dance in my spirit and soul.
They are truly far and few good movies in this genre. So in these holiday times while exploring Netflix , I stumbled upon 10 dances as a movie to watch and immediately set a reminder for it .
The film depicts all the Ten dances that are danced in the Ballroom & Latin dancing repertoire. I have been teaching them socially over the years. So from the first poetic sequence I was hooked.
Though the movie is set in the backdrop of the world dance competitions, at its heart is partner dancing which is my favorite of dancing forms. It captures, the sheer joy and thrill of dancing with another, matching move to move… I loved the beginning of the movie, the introduction to the dances and also the way it brought out the distinctive difference in both styles.
The movie at its core is based on competitiveness and the complexity of human emotions. The entanglement of love & rivalry in personal relationships & most of all the importance trust in and between one another. Though at times I did feel the narrative steered too much into their personal stories, that I felt it diluted the dance essence.
Yet the movie also revealed the truth of how much adaptability is the key and how challenging, it can be for different personalities who are dancing together, be it as a learner or a teacher and how difficult it is to unlearn to learn…
Someone trained in structured forms finds it so challenging to let go and dance from the heart. Whereas someone who dances with all their heart may feel stifled by excessive structures.
Over all, it was compelling to watch the changing dynamics portrayed at times, so very poetically in a dance movie to say the least. Do watch if you love dancing and especially so the magic of partner dancing.
Art of creativity Is to acknowledge The flow of possibilities Shaping seemingly Lifeless matter To birthing life in art
Creating anything Requires trustfulness Needs effort and focus And ability to adapt A willingness to attempt Acceptance of errors And perseverance to go on To the shifting perspectives In creative associations Adding curiousity of a child Of awe, wonder & joy.
To train the self Body mind & spirit To think like a creator Is to acknowledge in confidence That within us rests Possibilities in potential Of infinite creative capabilities.
P.s : I enjoyed painting this Art work above. It was created by me on my phone while traveling somewhere in Europe.
Colours of the spirit Pouring from the heart Sensing the feelings Evoking the emotions…
If every colour in the sky Rained down on earth If every colour of the rainbow Poured itself from the cup of life Colouring the planet in vibrance The world may see the very colours In the deepest core of the earth.
Nature is abundant in its flow In the river of time Trust nature to paint in vividity Splashing itself on the canvas of the earth Uncovering the yet undiscovered treasures…
There is inspiration Evoking enchantment Of magic & mystique In Spirituality & Fractality Mermerizing movements Exploring possibilities Both inclusive & expansive Experiencing virtual world Illusions become realistic Innovations becomes reality…
Creating anything Requires trustfulness Needs effort and focus And ability to adapt A willingness to attempt Acceptance of errors And perseverance to go on To the shifting perspectives In creative associations Adding curiousity of a child Of awe, wonder & joy.
Where there are no rules that bound Where the music leads and you follow Where there is end and no beginning All is in the flow as you sense you are the flow.. Ecstatic dancing indeed!
I remember participating in an Ecstatic Dance session in Zurich last year.
It was my first live session although I have been attending many such events online.
As a Ballroom and social dance teacher I have always got into the dance floor with a partner. So I first went in with an intention to experience first hand what it felt like to dance independently with others.
There were people of all ages walking in to register. I soon was surrounded by strangers who were finding a space for themselves to settle. Some started warming up some meditating, and I decided to follow suit.
I found people around me from all ages & walks of life, some seemed lithe and athletic like professional dancers, a few pregnant women, a few elderly people.
Each were on their own as if by practice, no one was really about conversation. For late comers it was about finding a space for many were already in their own warming up practices.
I could see all kinds of poses, some moving around a bit, flaying their arms and legs, some very restless some breathing consciously, some meditating, some sitting doing nothing but aware. A lady next to me managed to smile a bit when we look at each other, but mostly all were in their own world.
Soon the facilitator arrived and the she began a few warm up practices as the music flowed. The movements that she initiated were somewhat picked up by the crowd but interpreted in their own way. The tempo changed and the movements changed. The energy was palpable. What was interesting was there was no structure to the seeming madness and all were expressing from their own state of being. The mind body and spirit has a way of expressing in the flow if we only choose to allow it.
Our body is intelligent and capable. If we only understand that our body can heal itself much through instinctual expression as it helps regenerate itself. The somatic expressions are deeply authentic as no two people will move alike even though they hear the same music. For their emotions have different interpretations.
I was first a little cautious about my own movements especially conscious about the space I was occupying as the room was truly was full of people. Initially my experience in dancing spot dances like Jive or Salsa came to use so that I am aware of the dancers around me. And then after a while I realised I was unknowingly began using my skills of Waltz and Tango etc to move through the floor. I was dancing all the way from one end of the room to the other. I was in my own zen state of flow… like the others around me into their own unique moves…
I witnessed a few people in a trance like state, some truly rhythmic moving together without effort, and a few others doing weird gyrations as if the body is desperately releasing emotions. Suffice to say the experience was a soulful and intriguing one.
What is beautiful is that it is a safe space to move your own way…
No one leading no one following as a practice.
A non judgemental inclusive space…bringing people together to express themselves without fear, inhibitions and complete acceptance.
In mutual respect for one another as and how are.
The way a body moves to music is pure fascination. We are so uniquely ordained. Respect to the creator and creativity. 🙏
I am truly fond of trees & of nature in every form. This is the result from the first time I used AI to create an image. And I was truly happy. For it generated from my few prompts, a very powerful & poignant picture, suiting my sensibilities.
Aesthetically & artistically it speaks much, especially liked how the red blooms emerge from the sides of the trunk interestingly juxtaposed & rightly so to colour balance the whole rendition well.
I love the light in the background especially behind the trunk of the tree. Of light that is gentle like dawn. As if to say I am there arising, just around to dispel darkness.
This above artwork I had posted yesterday on my blog post Light, it is a result of my imagination brought to reality by AI, the creator from my thoughts and words & it’s unparalleled knowledge and inputs. Perhaps I got lucky or perhaps my words hit home… I landed with a complete artwork. And suffice to say, I am truly happy with the results. I decided to add it to my profile pic.
What do you think of this artwork ?
What about you? Have you started trying AI images? What were your first experiences like? Did it meet your expectations?
Did you have to tweak your words & prompts? What was the feeling like? Were you able to relate with your output ?
You Can If you only see the myrind patterns And colors of life, You will live to create If you could only believe In the vividity of the moment… If you could only sense the magic that life is meant to be You will… Paint your Life with Joy in the Flow Unwrap this Gift of Life Lovingly! Just Believe You Can… And You Can.
