5 Tips for Cultivating Self-Confidence

yes you can

Sense Confidence… It matters! Savvy Raj  www.savvyraj.com

Change is the only constant. Highs and lows are part of life and living but very often when they are internalised subconsciously they get projected outward by your behavioural traits. They are then one of the parameters of how you are perceived in the world.

Developing an attitude to grow and evolve is a commitment to the self and valuing the importance of awareness.  In an extremely competitive and complex world that we live in today, our attitudes and behaviour can make or mar our personal growth. Often we are witness to dwindling self-confidence and self-worth and self-esteem issues in life.

Realising personal strengths and working with them by cultivating a great attitude is the key to imbibing self-confidence.

And Yes You Can!

1:  List your strengths:

Yes make an effort right now and make a  list of your strengths. If you feel there is none that you can see on your own then ask your close friends and family to mention it to you. CREATE THE LIST.

2: Stop comparing & believe in yourself:

Realise that you are different and that is often your best strength. Comparing oneself to another is travelling on a hopeless road to destruction. Latch on to your best self and believe in your authentic nature. Notice, nurture and know your good points. You are not in competition with anyone but yourself.

 3: Learn to say no:

There is no room for emotional blackmail and self-sabotaging behaviour by agreeing to everything and everyone in order to keep them in a happy space all the time. Your life matters and your happiness counts. Remember always you are important for you.

4: Approve of yourself and stop self-criticism:

Take steps to care for your well being. Indulge in some free time just for yourself and choose the way you wish to spend it. Being assertive about your needs gives you an edge of certainty.

1495787499815

 Self-empowerment  is the key

Take care of your body mind and spirit.  Trust yourself more. Choose to celebrate your accomplishments But keep that head of yours firmly on your shoulder and walk knowing you are in touch with the ground.  Be balanced and learn to be assertive whenever needed, it empowers you with confidence. And you will soon be projecting it.

5: Adopt a positive body language:

Accept yourself with your shortcomings remember no one is perfect. Then decide to avoid negative self-talks and choose to self-motivate yourself every day! Spend time with positive-minded people.  Avoid sentimental bullies. Do not mull in loneliness.

Live every moment the best you can. Because You Can!

You have but one life … make it your best!

A tap into Gratitude.

A mail to me this morning made me stop and smile and tap into gratitude with all my heart.

It was from my reader and friend now over the years, Robert Mason, who has been extremely supportive of my journey through the visions and verses.

A share of kindness and appreciation can be the spring well of creativity.

A few lines in dedication to this kind and caring soul…

My dear patron,

Your compliments inspire me on my path

Your words encourage & your belief supports

Recently you asked about my art, vision and verse …

You asked me, where I create from

You asked me how long it takes to form.

You asked me from where warmth and positivity spring forth in my words.

Life they say, is the best teacher guide and mentor

Perhaps in the siftings of life and living

The colours of my art emerge.

Perhaps the sounds of words felt deep within

I sense again, in the verses I write

Perhaps the blow of incessant hot and cold winds of changes

Mellow my words with moderation.

Words are powerful I deeply believe

As I had written somewhere earlier too

In faith hope and trust

I care to send out my thoughts

That they may shift the perspectives

Of another’s thought to turn to the positive.

That they may bring the very same contentment

in the reading and sensing

to awaken the spirit and let their souls shine

With love and gratitude

In the realization of all that is.

That I feel deep within.

Beauty of it all is

That life continues

To be a great impactor

In the winds of changes.

There is much to understand and know

New learnings, new knowings

That teach as they are happening now.

The trick is to be open

And allow it all in the flow

To assimilate and acknowledge

This wealth of wisdom between you & me.

So I thank your questions here to me

As it awakens my spirit now

To brave new frontiers of creativity

But with deep responsibility.

Thank you for the pause in my thoughts

You invoke with your caring query.

Significance of creative endeavors

Arise first from curiosity and care

And that propels new paths and purpose…

In this journey of life and living.

The Paradox of Beauty

1494387954185

It is often said that “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”…. as beauty can be a very subjective and a personal choice and experience of life.  This attraction or admiration, after all, is an interpretation of harmony, of proportion in the features attributed to a culture for beauty.

Is beauty measurable to a certain standard? Well according to the Golden Ratio, the ideal result for an attractive face would be 1.6.  Greeks believed a beautiful face is 1.6 times longer than its width. But then it has been refuted by attributing it simply to the ability of pattern recognition by humans. After all cultural differences have strange ideas of what is beautiful and they seem poles apart from each other. Such is the paradox of beauty!

From smooth skin devoid of wrinkles, a long neck and flowing hair, to face tattoos and body scars, long earlobes, shaved heads, pale skins to small feet, to full figures different countries and culture have different standards of beauty.

Take the case of some Eastern countries where straightened hair is considered beautiful and many are turning to chemical hair straighteners and flat ironing for holding up to standards of beauty. Girls in Mauritania,  West Africa when shown an article about liposuction, laugh so hard in disbelief as it shocks their concepts of what is beautiful. In fact, this goes to extreme measures like ‘Leblouh’ the practice of force feeding girls to have heavy figures and stretch marks like in Mauritania, to the overwhelming numbers of rhinoplasty in Iran and where women wearing post-surgical bandages consider it as a badge of honour and wealth.

The human capacity to appreciate beauty has perhaps radically evolved with the species and men and woman see and process beauty differently. Humans are complex beings and if beauty were a language, its expression would be unique to every individual with respect to their nature and nurture.

So in the quest towards understanding the beauty and the ideals of beauty, there are many questions …

Is there a possibility of greater survival of what is considered beautiful.?

Or is the reverse true?

History is replete with numerous wars on account or on behalf of desire to possess own nurture, save and protect beautiful people animals or things. And beauty becomes a victim of situations and often is the cause of chaos and destruction.

The very beauty that emits an utter of exclamation of awe in the admiration of the exquisite creation can extract emotional outbursts and create and spread hate and malice, upheavals that can mar the course of peace in history and cause wars.

Beauty can thus become a two-edged sword.

Is there more to the reason there exists for the quality of beauty and its perception. The genetic codes that determine beauty can be there for the purpose of an evolution of the species and refinement in the subtlety of consciousness….

There is beauty in a soul that is kind without prejudice

There is beauty in choosing to transform to a better person inside out.

There is beauty in words spoken and deeds of generosity

There is beauty in making people feel valuable

As after all beauty is in the way you make another feel.

The Journey

1494129143518
In the fragility
Between the dream and reality
Amidst the knowing of an impermanence of being.
In the vulnerability
Of life and living
The dancing souls inhale and exhale.
And the dance of life
Carries on taking a cue
From each moment lived…
Emerging with every now
In the freedom to be
Building the bridge of belief…
In hope and faith
Trusting the journey
To lead the way.
The seeker and the seeking
Merge into dimensions unknown
Only to transform…
With the spaces between the thoughts
Creating moments that matters
In the eternal infinite plan.
Dear reader
Every step of our ‘Journey’ through time in life and living makes way for shifts in our internal compass. This is an intuitive guide on our path to create evolve and inspire the world.
As we learn to honour the steps we take
A better world we can all care to make.

A sense of it all…

Presenting my artwork:

Titled: ‘Transcendence– Clarity amidst the chaos in the Interconnects ‘.

From circles in the spheres

And shapes unknown

Of thought to imagination

You to me is a continuum

Of expression in life and living.

As you and I see it

In unique ways.

Every perspective

Every interpretation

Creates shifts in space

To accommodate every emergence

And all matters

In the infinity of being

Beyond scale or count

And boundless beyond measure.

Every single flicker in participation

Every bit of intention

Every action is your contribution.

Impacting the world for you and for me.

Leaving imprints in time,  altering the energy

Such is your value in the synergy.

Care to sense the responsibility

In making sense of it all!

Savvy Raj

All our insights and shares in understanding and the uncertainity, in clarity amidst the chaos, create the shape of things to come and therein is the reason to continue on the path of shaping ourselves by chiselling at a transformation towards transcendence. Savvy

To Dance…

A dance can introduce you to yourself,

as it beckons you to know your limitless potential.

Savvy Raj

Conversations in Oneness

To dance is to converse with your soul in oneness.

To dance is to acknowledge  the living  you in this moment

To dance is to move with your soul’s longings in this present now.

To dance is to feel the rhythm of your own beating heart.

To dance is dare to reach beyond the spaces visible.

To dance is to sense the magic as you touch the intangible  …

To dance is to sense the preciousness of time.

As it glides  with your movements sublime

In every move, the heart and mind is looped in joyousness

In every flight is the beauty of lightness …

To dance is to be connected  to your  being

In the contentment of life and living!

Savvy

I love to dance

In every moment of my life….I relate to the fluidity of movements we make,  to the rhythm of the words we write, to the harmony in the words we speak, to the synchrony of the  breaths we take,  to the connectedness in the  flow of thoughts we have , to the strength in the similarity of one being to the other,  to the heightened  awareness  of feelings and emotions to the consciousness of every deed and actions, to the mind and body  connection  we touch  upon with a simple dance.

Dancing regularly has the power of release … from inhibitors like fear, seclusion, loneliness depressive states, mood swings,  lack of confidence, social reservations and lack of communication. An hour of dancing regularly can bring a spring in the step and smile on one’s lips.

That said there are some parameters to take note of for enhanced benefits from dancing which need to be mentioned.

The dance and you:

Every individual is unique and it would be good to start learning gradually with an appropriate dance form suited to their innate nature and choice.
For example, there is no reason to push a beginner beyond their boundaries at they are introduced to certain dance movement without consent and choice. As the benefits of dancing can be seen when they love what they learn and dance what they love.

Take it easy and enjoy the journey!

Dance is not a war with oneself or another it is about being in harmony and at peace with the self so as to enjoy the dance.

The trainer the teacher you learn from always plays a much bigger role in making you love or hate what you learn. It is a huge responsibility as a teacher than to send out positive reflection appreciation and encouraging signals to communicate the power of dance and movement.

Although there are many wonderful teachers out there, try to work with someone chosen according to the goal plans you set for yourself as you begin to learn. That said …dedication discipline, attendance punctuality, appearance personal hygiene and faith and trust in your efforts are going to play a major role in the efforts from both sides.

Today as we celebrate the International Dance Day … I dedicate this post to the celebration of ‘Dance in and around us to the Dance and the Dancer in us all.’

Creative Enrichments!

Freedom ....Creative Enrichments!

Creative Enrichments by Savvy Raj

To create is to believe in the infinite…
To create is to move with the power to connect the apparent disconnects
To create is dare to reach beyond self-limiting doubts and judgments
To create is to enjoy the process every step of the way…
To create is to be uniquely you!
Savvy

Most of us have indulged in one dance form or the other, enjoying the creative spurts in the process, but many of us assume that real dancers are those who are what we call the born artists, or the performers, or maybe only those who are trained or innately talented.

Dancing is an art form no doubt, but it is truly not reserved to a select few just because they have the privileges of being blessed with inborn talent .True gift of the power of dancing is equally available to everyone just as much as to the dancing genius! Indulging in any creative movement satisfies an individuals need to source, analyse assimilate, and create, from within. However, the trick is in the integration of such artistic dance pursuits into our everyday lives, as most of us lead such busy lives with little or no time to spare for a little self-enrichment.
Dancing is a creative expression from your soul which has the power to explore the depth of emotions and thoughts and brings in the open what’s hidden and inaccessible and thereby even heal oneself of limiting convictions and beliefs.
The creative surges give rise to the expansion of thoughts and one can feel transformed even in a single dance. We gradually become more balanced, focused and aware of our surroundings. We can simply start by bridging the dull gaps in our journey of life … filling them with beautiful movements that are as fulfilling as much as they are enriching!
So care to dance a little every day, enrich your life & also of those around you!

Wisdom of Change

Knowledge is one thing, understanding is quite another. Knowledge needs constant upgradation as it is never ever constant in the dimensions of time and space. The pathway to true wisdom is in acknowledgement of the possibilities of the new or the yet unknown.

Wisdom is in knowing beyond knowledge.

To think universally and act globally; to begin with and see the structure in chaos and relate to the rhythms in nature;

To follow along the infinite beginnings all leading to the same place — ‘Your true self’;

In a knowing that allows you to exercise free will to be who you are;

And that thoughts are but a tool for the thinking, that allows you to process the integration of the self and the entire cosmos.

Self and beyond —

Is there a distance and a difference?

If so, how far and of what?

Physical and social,

Mental and psychological

We may think immediately.

We may be set apart in time and space, yet we are so similar in vulnerabilities,

Persevering in hope and knowing the truth of mortality.

We breathe the same air, live in the same world.

We learn to see wisdom in change, in the interrelation, in the interdependence, in the interconnects.

So, in the wisdom of the wise, the wiser and the wisest

Is the understanding of the knowing behind the knowledge

To make sense beyond their meaning

And in the knowing, change begets wisdom

To accept from ordinary things can permeate untapped wisdom.

That the ‘ordinary’ possess nuggets of wisdom

In the knowing is the learning.

Then, there is no search, all is within —

The change, the changer, and the changing.

Change is inevitable, but you are the one in charge of how the change impacts you and how you respond to the changes.

Dare to dance with it! Dance with life!

On Writing (Part2) : Being a Guest blogger for the first time …

My earlier post today  ‘Writing as I know it

makes me want to share my bit about the guest blogging experience.

Guest blogging now this was something I had seen instances of other people doing it.  The reasons could be many from simply promoting your site to increasing traffic on the site.  It is basically about publishing your work in another’s blog site. Your writing meets a new set of readers organically and you learn from the perspectives.  My first guest blogging has brought me a few like-minded and varied writers upfront and that is wonderful as well.

There are many blog sites which offer guest bloggers posts, all you need to do is to send your work and if accepted you are on.

Just the experience of it all, to understand how it works, that is the reason I tried Guest blogging for the first time.

Here is my first guest blog on the ‘Circle of Life’ and the unending hope in humanity….

https://scvincent.com/2017/04/08/guest-blogger-savvy-raj-unending-hope/

Have a go at it and if you wish to and do contact and connect with Sue Vincent’s blog https://scvincent.com/  Not only will you find her very warm and welcoming but also some amazing writers sharing their inspirations. And am pretty sure you will find many takers for your style of writing as well.

Thank you, Sue Vincent, for the opportunity!

Writing as I know it…

On Writing

Writing is a liberating experience if you care to steer your thoughts and string them in words. Every writer has many or no reason about what and why they write …

It is the most natural thing to do or it is a task to brings even two words together. It is an integrative experience or a chore to get done with depending on our attitudes, to begin with.

Writing is an art of construction of an abstraction,  it can help evolve mass consciousness and propel new consciousness.

Writing is a trustful companion at your behest whenever wherever or a taxing exercise. But every writing is unique just as the writer behind it.

Reader and a writer  a dance of symbiosis

There is an invisible bond that forms between a writer and reader a relationship that thrives if it is of mutual respect and understanding. As both are giving away their precious time of their lives in the writing and the reading. Ideally, it is a symbiotic relationship as there can never be one without the other. Both are valuable and contribute deeply in their mere presence.

A reader is as necessary to the writer as ink and paper as without a reader the writer will have no reason to put down thoughts in written format .. And if there is no one yet at least for the self to read on.

A writer matters a great deal too. To an avid reader of a certain writer, every word gives a unique connect. Sometimes writings can be shocking and jarring while some caress in the fluidity of the flow. It is but a matter of choice and with the freedom of will comes a great responsibility….

Writing can set free deep-seated emotions and in such freedom is the underlying responsibility…

Writing is a responsibility as once writ,  the words have great power to stir  emotions and  touch hearts ,  to enthuse or infuse hope or hatred . So it is imperative to exercise  awareness through every word written and published.  Savvy

Why I write

I write when I am charged with an idea an inspiration. Or perhaps when there is nothing else to do.

I write to balance my emotions whenever it needs equilibrium.

I write to flow with the moment with a thought that aligns as it calls on me and as I write at times emerges into a pattern in prose or verse.

I write to understand better when thoughts overpower…overstimulate the mind.

I write to let go of all that comes to my mind which I feel and hope can make a positive difference somewhere to someone reading me.

I write at times in deliberation too to process and synthesise new understandings.

I write to unshackle from the many convictions I may unknowingly hold. As I write they break loose from restrictive spaces and help to align my thoughts in the sifting.

I write to express the bounties of life that I’m blessed to enjoy in gratitude.

I write to sense the bliss of being with all of me in the moment.

I write to express myself my way.

Subtlety of Consciousness

The mystic of the Universe

Is in the shaping of creations

Squares circle spheres….

Countless dimensions

Of perspectives and propositions

Of proclamations and possibilities

On the profoundness of potentialities

Drawing from parallel to the ultraparallel

Blending and meeting to correlate

Adapting to create new visions and postulate

In the precision of near perfection

In the enigmatic theories to pragmatic practicalities.

Bending in space time

Converging massive energy

Colliding to create in the synergy

Shapes and angles in the abstraction

Dots to lines in the interconnection

Lines to dots in the simplification

Dots to the void of the core in the sublimation.

Nature jostles to witness the wonder

Composition unparalleled

Captivating in the conjectures

Riveting in the awe and rapture

Inspirations in the aspirations.

Subtlety hides the majesty of action

In the dimensions of correlation

Subtlety speaks through the intuitive connection

Subtlety projects nothing to distraction

Subtlety seeks nothing in impression

As all is without so it is within

And this bridge of balance from inner to outer

Is the evolution in the Subtlety Conscious.

Way of the heart!

Heart knows! By Savvy Raj

Walk the path of the heart,

Where action emanates from empathy,

Where sight envisions noble deeds,

Where one senses the calm of compassion, ears listen to sounds of silence.

In the chaos that may reign around,

The way of the heart finds its home

And roots itself deep within the core of the being.

Where peace and love abide side by side,

Where everything that matters is let to be,

Where talking is less and listening is more,

Where strength is not measured by power alone,

Where kindness of heart is the true wealth of being

In these eternal truths, contentment reigns,

Always in realization of what is than what was or might be.

And every heart knows the way.

Such is the way of the heart!

Circle of Life

My artwork Title : CIRCLE OF LIFE

# Unending Hope in Humanity

Life gives unto itself

Such is the eternal circle of life

Humanity is the eternal truth in art

Deeds of compassion are matters of the heart

Touched by gratitude in the living

Appeased by simple love in the sensing

Moved beyond the self in the feeling

Humanity thrives on in the being

Art moves the heart of man

Like an artist who creates with a elan

Marking his life dedicated to artistry

Life flows through another creativity…

Regenerating in every stroke

Reviving in every florish

Patterns form in the shaping

Poetry emotes in the flowing

Such is the circle of life

Drawing us to hope beyond the strife

It matters not if ..

Art propels the healing through the hope of humanity

And life draws the meaning delving in the sheer artistry.

Circle moves on …

And life replenishes the soul of the artistry

And art bequeathes hope in humanity.

The Search

One of the greatest philosophers of India, Adi Shankaracharya founded the Advaita Vedanta, which is one of the sub-schools of Vedanta. Shankara travelled across the Indian subcontinent to propagate his philosophy through discourses and debates with other thinkers.

Sharing a lovely story which will give you valuable insight into the life of this great poet and philosopher and the wisdom of Adi Shankaracharya.

One night Sri Adi Shankaracharya, the great Advaita master, was desperately searching for something on the street outside his small hut. When his pupil returned from his errand, he saw this and curiously asked the Master, “Acharya, what are you looking for here on the street at this hour?”

Shankaracharya replied, “I lost my needle, I am looking for it.”

The pupil joined him in the search, but after searching for a while, he asked, “Can you try and recollect where you might have dropped it?”

Shankaracharya said, “Of course, I remember. I dropped it near the bed in the hut.”

The pupil, utterly astonished at the strange answer, said, “Acharya, you say you lost it inside the house, then why are we looking for it outside?”

Shankaracharya innocently replied, “There is no oil left in the lamp, so it is pitch dark inside the house. Hence I thought of searching for it outside since there is enough street light here.”

While holding back his laugh, the pupil said, “If you lost your needle inside the house, how could you even expect to find it outside?”

Shankaracharya simply smiled back at the pupil and the pupil got the message behind the acharya’s puzzling act.

Isn’t that what we do? We run to far away, temples and walk up mountains to search for what we have lost inside ourselves. We are all seeking outside what we have lost inside us. Why? Just because it is pitch dark Inside.

Silly, aren’t we?!

Light the lamp inside you and find your lost treasure right therein.

Musings…
Speaking of, ego, fear, sadness, pain, pleasure, doubt, procrastination, craving, desire, ambition, wants, needs, accumulation…. all create mental clutter and stressful reactions.

Happiness, hope, way .courage, bravery, belief, faith, trust, confidence, perseverance, positivity, a sense of purpose and cultivating the ability to let go in understanding all create a sense of balance in the responses.

All is within us and so is the choice of what we wish to bring to light.

Simplify the process to make it work in tandem with your being.

Ask the question to the self and your thoughts will find the way.

We are wired to find solutions within us ….scientifically neuroplasticity speaks of the ability of our cells to stretch and acknowledge new awareness into our being.

Seek the answer in ways that are holistic and in tandem with universal truths of being.

Life is a cycle and this circle of life will manifest solutions in time.
