On Expectations

Our expectations are our internal picture of what we anticipate will happen in future. When our expectations are met we are happy but when not, they set us up for disappointments.

Setting the expectations and giving clarity can be effective in a professional environment. Yet when we do not communicate it or when we set unrealistic expectations it can lead to anxiety frustration & loss of trust.

A few traits to develop that help in handling our expectations better.

Communication : Acing our internal and external communication establishes an understanding of the expectations.

Adaptability : An art of change management. In being adaptable to a new and different reality we learn to manage our expectations.

Kindness & compassion : Both help us hone our attitudes. The way we feel and emote during a challenging moment helps us manage and alter the situation.

Patience : A virtue that helps us to not be too exacting on ourselves and others.

Equanimity : Being non judgmental helps in being less edgy and more balanced in our expectations.

After all…

Less you expect
Less  you worry
Less you stress
More is the faith
More the love
More life

People Matter

Recently I came across a very relevant set of words share.

100% of your employees are people

100% of your customers are people

100% of your investors are people

If you don’t understand people you don’t understand buisness.

Never a more simply conveyed truth on the value of being people centric in buisness.

And it all starts from paying attention and listening from the human perspective.

Their desires needs their pain points the problems they want solutions for and hence its important for a business to pay attention to building a meaningful and memorable humane relationship with all these segments of ‘ people’ to create a pathway to make a positive difference

Companies may have many people centric policies rolled out, they may proclaim they are people centric and may be they have invested much to make their office spaces comfortable for instance but without building a relationship of trust and transparency it is still a far shot towards their highest potential.

To garner the support from people, it is important to think from and include the peoples perspective..

The voice of the people, employees customers investors all give great insights on path of continous improvements & the new possibilities of development.

The Paradox of Idea Generation

While working with teams in collaboration Our assumptions and notions often lead us.

Our expressions are guarded and stunted in Our doubts kicks in a resistance to be free.

The attitudes that we carry around ideas
Often block us from generating fresh ideas
We believe our idea must be the best idea.
We believe we cannot say what we think.
We fear the criticism of what we openly say
We hold back thinking sharing is not wise.
Or that someone  will steal our ideas.
Or that we will not get credit for it.
Or perhaps the need for perfection kicks in

All are the real blocks in creative ideations
Without faith and confidence in ourselves
We cannot express & ideate in groups
Yet nothing is achieved in silos
Growth is a consequence of the sharing.

Creative possibilities are enhanced
In a more exploratory space of learning Adopting  a more collaborative approach.
As we begin to share, we learn some more.

Great ideas are born from creative collaboration.
