Is about living
With care and consideration
Being aware of moderation
Everything is best in balance
For excess is wastage
Of precious resources
When body mind and soul
Choose in consciousness

Sharing my artwork today …
Yes You Can
If you only see
The myriad patterns
And colours of life
You will live to create
If you could only believe
In the vividly of the moments
If you could only sense
The magic life is meant to be
You will
Paint your life with joy in the flow
Unwrap this gift of life lovingly!
Just believe you can
And yes you can.

Some of you might have read this before but I have posted it as it’s worth reading again and again 😊
Motivational Story – The Bamboo Tree
A man got frustrated with life. Despite all the hard work and effort, failure was all that he learnt. Feeling defeated with life, he left everything and exiled himself in the woods. There he met a Hermit. The disappointed man shared is failure with the hermit. “Give me one good reason not to quit?”- He pleaded the Hermit
“Look”, the hermit said, pointing towards two plants. “Do you see that fern and bamboo there?
“Yes”, the man nodded.
“When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them. I gave them water, light and fertilizer. Within a short period of time the fern quickly grew from the earth”, the hermit continued.
“But despite the Bamboo seed being watered and nurtured for years, it did not outwardly grow as much as an inch. In fact, nothing at all happened in the first year. There was no sign of growth. But, I did not give up on the Bamboo seed and continued to water and nurture it. By the fifth year, a tiny sprout emerged from the earth. And within six months, the tree grew a hundred feet tall.”
“So, did the bamboo tree lie dormant for four years only to grow exponentially in the fifth?” the hermit asked. Baffled by the question the man kept quiet. “The answer is quite obvious. The little tree was growing underground, developing a root system strong enough to support its potential for outward growth in the fifth year and beyond. Had the tree not developed a strong foundation, it would not have sustained its life as it grew.”
“Did you know that all the time you had been struggling, you were growing strong roots”, remarked the hermit
The man learned his lesson that day. He learnt the value of persistence and hard work. The fern and the bamboo stood right in front of him as he walked towards his life to continue to work on his dreams

This week finds me traveling yet again to another city.
I realize the sights and smells that greet me as I set alight also set the expectations.
Yet one thing has never changed in all my travels
My inate ability to wake up at dawn no matter when I sleep.
In the hotel room I am suddenly abound by precious time. I also enjoy the practice of having warm water with a just slight dip of a teabag for a second so its more flavored water than tea.
I sense many moments of great connectedness in this unadulterated time of sipping tea. I love it best propped in bed with my feet all tucked in the warm sheets The warm concoction ever so gently bringing in the old familiar fuzzy feeling of being at ease, and accommodating my palate and me to the sensations of a new place. Over many such moments of serendipitousness & the familiar deju vus that wash over me, I have been privy to my musings in verses that flow effortlessly.
Like I am doing in this now…
Moments matter and your movements in the moments matter a great deal.
Hold this moment that is, in rapture and awe
It’s precious for it will slip away
Never to meet again in posterity.
But in creating a ripple effect of positivity through the movements in the moment
What is the future can manifest from this now
Care to alter your life for the better.
Alter your moves…
So what’s your kind of move in this now?

A share from ISHA UPANISHAD
The Shanti Mantra :
Om purnamadah purnamidam purnat purnamudacyate | purnasya purnamadaya purnamevavashishyate || Om Shantih Shantih Shantih hi||
This is One of the greatest gift to the humanity.
The concept of Zero comes from this very Shanti Mantra.
In linear mathematics, we will always find that when something is taken out from something, that something from which things are taken out lacks.
If we take some furniture out from a room then that room is minus those furniture.
That means this room is not what it had before.
This is a linear thinking.
But here the Rishis gave us a completely different outlook towards life.
The spherical thinking is :
That is full. And this is also full.
This fullness has come from that fullness. And in spite of this fullness having come from that fullness, that still remains full.
A mother gives birth to a baby.
A baby is also complete. The mother is also complete.
Just because the baby is born, the mother is not lacking something. In fact, it has added to her glory.
The concept of Zero, without which nothing could have happened in this planet.
No computer technology, no science could have progressed.
That has (its) origin here in this very Shanti Mantra.
From the fullness, comes out the fullness, and still the fullness remains fullness.
We can go on analyzing this very Shanti Mantra on various levels:
Spiritual level, Material level, level of Mathematics, level of Physics etc.
It is pregnant with huge information.
When we share our Peace with others, our peace will not be lost.
When we share our Knowledge with others, we won’t lose the knowledge.
It remains complete inside us.
Similarly, this Universe, in fact it is multi-verse, enormously huge, is dynamic. Many things are being born here everyday and dissolving back into it everyday.
Still both the manifest is complete and the unmanifest is also complete.
The Rishis say Shanti Shanti Shanti – three times.
When our environment is disturbed, we cannot sit there and think about or contemplate on Knowledge.
When the Knowledge is to flow and transfer, the environment needs to be Congenial.
Our body-mind complex needs to be fit on the third level, the level of the Self, the Being and Inner Peace. Hence Shanti-Peace is emphasised.
A Peaceful mind can probe into something beyond, can grasp that something which cannot be grasped by the little mind.
The intellect cannot access to things which our spirit can get access to.
And for that the wholeness is essential.

A friend in need is a friend in deed
True friends have your back
True friends help whenever wherever
Without saying a word.
Yet have much to say to you
When you are short of good counsel
They care to listen when you need a listening ear.
And tell you the truth as it is for your own good.
It’s a gift of life to have even one true friend.
Cherish your friendships and nurture them forever more.

An interesting share

All Fused Bulbs are the Same !
A senior executive retired and shifted from his palatial official quarters to the housing society, where he owned a flat.
He considered himself big and never talked to anyone.
Even while walking in the society park every evening, he ignored others, looking at them with contempt.
One day, it somehow transpired that an elderly person sitting beside him started a conversation, and they continued to meet.
Every conversation was mostly a monologue with the retired executive harping on his pet topic,
Nobody can imagine the big post and high position I held before retirement;
I came here due to compulsions”; and so on, and the other elderly person used to listen to him quietly.
After many days, when the retired executive was inquisitive about others, the elderly listener opened his mouth and said,
After retirement, we are all like fused bulbs.
It does not matter what a bulb’s wattage was, how much light or glitter it gave, after it gets fused.
He continued, “I have been living in this society for the last 5 years and have not told anyone that I was a Member of the Parliament for two terms.
On your right, over there is Vermaji, who retired as General Manager in Indian Railways.
Over there is Singh Saheb, who was a Major General in the Army.
That person sitting on the bench in spotless white dress is Mehraji, who was the chief of ISRO before retirement.
He hasn’t revealed it to anyone, not even to me, but I know.”
All fused bulbs are now the same – whatever its wattage was – 0, 10, 40, 60, 100 watts – it doesn’t matter now.
Neither does it matter what type of bulb it was before it got fused – LED, CFL, Halogen, Incandescent, fluorescent, or decorative.
And that, my friend, applies to you too.
The day you understand this, you will find peace and tranquillity even in this housing society.
The rising sun as well as the setting sun are both beautiful and adorable.
But, in reality, the rising sun gets more importance and adoration, and is even worshipped , whereas the setting sun is not given the same reverence.
It is better to understand this sooner than later.
Our current designation, title and power are not permanent.
Keeping lot of emotions with these things only complicate our life when we lose this one day.
Remember that when the game is over, the king and the pawn go back in the same box.
Enjoy what you have today . Have a fabulous time ahead….

To me…
Painting is an iterative journey
Full of surprises in the flow
Something to stumble upon
To follow on & find meaning.
In letting go of the control
You begin to see the guidance
Forming in the impressions
Sometimes subtle or strong
As the brush moves on canvas
Leaving imprints of colours
Patterning itself in a narrative
Creating a purpose for itself.
Painting is a tool in trusting
In faith, in the discovery
Shaping itself through you
Bridging beyond in the now.

Today I came across this interesting proverb.
If a man fools me once, shame on him. If he fools me twice, shame on me. ~ Chinese Proverb
It makes me think a little more…

How much of experiences does one need to help learn from making mistakes?
Till we use our mistakes as stepping stones to success.
If there is a surefire way to surf through life without issues…
It is in the ability to take the self lightly!
To realise what seems like a big issue today may seem very insignificant in time.

How much does one depend on the armour of God to help in tiding through lifes crisis?
In sensing that faith is all there is…
There is a knowing that there is always hope beyond despair.

How can we learn to see through the facades?
In understanding that there is more to seeing beyond the looking.
How can we protect ourselves from being conned?
In trusting the self before all else!

Does loneliness or loss and the ensuing vulnerability make one a target or a victim?
It depends on ones perspective of life .
For in the loneliness there is a opportunity for self awareness
And our strengths can emanate from our vulnerabilities.

How to keep the spirit calm, collected & contented ?
In witnessing the world while breathing deeply and bringing our awareness to the now…
And how can we learn to take responsibility for our errors of judgment?
In knowing we have the power of choice with us! And remember to think well and choose equally well!.

Sharing a few words from my mother’s musings…
On Mindfulness
Do not use such words that can hurt anothers heart.
On Love
Do not love anyone that you become their slave.
On wisdom of moderation
Do not continue arguments till it becomes a fight.
On checking desires
Do not desire so much that it spoils your peace of mind.
On Anger management
Do not get so angry that your face turns red.
On letting go
Do not keep enemity till someone dies.
On mindful action
Do not do actions that brings hatred in other’s minds.
On letting go worry
Do not worry so much that you have to shed tears for that.
On Give and take
Whatever you get are other’s gift to you.
Whatever you lost are the opportunities given to others.
On Scarcity
Hunger is the reason for disease in a poor man’s house.
On Excess
Excess food is the reason for disease in a rich man’s house.
On Time
TIME is just and honest. That’s why it never waits for anyone.

Love heals like no other
A good measure of love
Is the best antidote
To the grieving heart
True love is accommodating
Without force & compulsion
It’s ever-expansive and inclusive
Love spreads messages of hope
Kindles goodwill in aching hearts
Age no matter love springs forth enthusiasm for life and living
Such is the power of love!

In being proved wrong
We learn something new
What if we celebrate the learning
Than criticize making mistakes
For mistakes are an error of judgement.
It is already happened, in the past
What matters is what we make of it
Are we ready to accept our mistakes?
Are we ready to learn from it to move on?
After all instead of fussing over mistakes,
Let’s be receptive to being wrong.
And care to imbibe a new perspective
For then we can be a little less wrong now🙏

Give credit, when and where credit is due
Shy not from appreciation.
Neither in giving nor taking.
If you see something that makes you feel like appreciating…
Do so immediately, don’t wait for another day.
For authentic appreciation can transform the world for the receiver.
Words matter, a great deal
Say words that mean well
Let there be no ambiguity
When you mean well
Let your words drive the message home.
All is well in clarity of communication.
