Just another tree?

Roads of Goa

Don’t know you

How you live and breathe

In these nondescript pathway.

Yet here you are

Vividly present

Colouring the blue sky

With blossoms of contrasts.

Mature trunk and verdant   leaves

You strike a pose

You hold a  stance

In your unique way.

I see you dear tree

Grateful for your being

For you nurtured many lives

Seen many a solar cycles.

I bless you with all my heart

For healing this world…

For the world may be

You are just another tree

For me you live vibrantly

Evergreen in my memories.

A sight to behold

A vision to thank

In recognition and  gratitude

For your impactful presence🙏

A trip down memory lane.

An unexpected yet beautiful burst of colour contrasting the bright blue sky  prompted me to click a photo in a split second, enroute a road trip to Goa a few years ago…

P.S.

Sharing some amazing facts about the positive ecological impacts from one fully mature tree, that I came across.

Key Environmental & Ecological Impacts

  • Natural Climate Control: Through evapotranspiration and shade, one healthy mature tree provides a net cooling effect equal to 10 room-sized air conditioners running 20 hours a day. This can lower local microclimate temperatures by up to 3°F–5°F.
  • Carbon Vault: A single tree absorbs roughly 48 pounds (22 kg) of CO₂ per year. Over a 40-year lifespan, it locks away nearly 1 metric ton of atmospheric carbon in its trunk, roots, and surrounding soil.
  • Oxygen Generation: One fully grown, leafy tree generates enough net oxygen per year to sustain 2 to 4 human beings.
  • Hydrological Shield: A single mature canopy can intercept and soak up 2,300 gallons of stormwater runoff per year. Its root network stabilizes topsoil against erosion while filtering heavy metals and synthetic pollutants before water enters local aquifers.
  • Air Filtration: Leaves and bark actively trap particulate matter (PM2.5) while absorbing gaseous pollutants such as nitrogen dioxide, ground-level ozone, and sulfur dioxide—removing dozens of pounds of air pollutants annually.
  • Biodiversity Anchor: A single native tree (such as an oak) can support over 500 distinct species of insects, birds, mosses, and beneficial microorganisms, functioning as a self-contained ecosystem.

That I am fond of trees is nothing new… I have written many verses on trees before as well, yet in here I share a message close to my heart…

Nurture nature Nurture trees.

You are doing an important  service to help support self sustaining powerhouse of oxygen to our planet.

Beauty of impermenance

Today,  I came across a beautiful  Japanese word called ‘Komorebi’ that depicts…the beauty  of light filtering in through the leaves. And I see this picture, that I had saved, somehow seems to fit right in…

Beauty of impermenance

Every ray of light
In these leaves …
Can never be replicated
To exact moments.

Yet there is stillness
In its fleeting moment
In simple appreciation,

And heartfelt acknowledging

Of the beauty of impermenance.

Serenading my senses…

It’s early evening

The sunlight is still filtering in

I sit back, after a walk.

It feels like a balmy dusk

Watching dappled rain drops

Falling on verdant leaves 🍃

Petrichor fills the air

Rising from the earth

Sensing the glimmers of this now.

Serenading my senses, in serendipity…

To root is to grow

Have written many times earlier  on rootedness on grounding on awareness. But today, I share another perspective on the strength of rooting  for self growth and transformation.

Self growth needs committed perseverance, patience and passion for continuous  improvement.  That is how the human race evolves .To root is to help grow and evolve .

Be unafraid of rooting

If you are looking to grow

And have a vision

Of what it is you want to grow

Then by all means

Find your growth

In rooting yourself  firmly

Be unafraid

Of the winds of change

For what blows in blows out

Keep the faith  and trust in you wherever  you  are

And believe you are enough for you.

Beautiful things begin to happen.

Hear to be heard

Hear to be heard
Value to be valued
Acknowledge.

It makes a world of difference in a ‘ever busy world’ that’s always checking time.
Giving time and energy to understand another with empathy will help shift perspectives for the better.

Wisdom Of Trees

Trees store secrets

Echoing in the echelons

In their barks and trunks

In the leaves and stems

In them is a wealth of wisdom

Of times gone by

To discover for the future…

Nurture nature

Save trees.

Miracle of Autumn

Miracle of autumn

Colours changing season

Rich burnt orange rust

Fill leaves of green as they fall

As if announcing arrival of fall

Signaling animals and birds

To prepare ahead of the cold

Of winters frost on the anvil

To brace the changing weather.

A season of love & embrace

Of  long walks with loved ones.

Of long nights and shorter days

That heads through to winter.

Make the best of the changes.

Nature nurtures

Watching this papaya tree grow in our garden gives me great joy. Nature has so much wisdom to offer if we take time to reflect on it.
Love how the tiny little shoots are protected and nurtured by an umbrella of more mature leaves until they are ready to face the sun on their own…

When the intentions are expansive

And the purpose stronger together

In the journey of life

Dreams take roots to realize itself.

Seeds to trees

Trees to forest

Barren lands turn fertile greens

Salute to this inspiring couple who created a forest out of barren land.

Together they have planted more than 2000 trees… Do read more…

Salute to Trees

Came across a beautiful tree in my walk  this morning…

Wondering of the lifetime experiences that trees live through

Of how many seasons it must have seen

Of how it must have survived through the storms

As well as enjoyed the beauty of springtines

Of the countless lives it could have generously sheltered

And continues to do so….

Strengthened by nature

Thriving in the surviving

Salute to the tree.
