Live Life Lovingly!

Life lessons

Another inspiring story translation from tamil forward by my mother Anjana.

A gardener one day saw a bird’s nest in his garden. Out of curiosity he peeped inside and saw a few eggs laid inside it.
Next day he was happy to see small tiny cracks on the eggshells. He realised th eggs are getting ready to hatch . His curiosity increased.
For the he next few days , every day he will see the how the eggs are and happy to see the cracks getting bigger. His expectations kept on increasing.
One day he saw the eggs moving and the little tiny birds were struggling inside to break open the wall and come out of their confined space .
He felt sad for the birds as they have to struggle so much. He wanted to help them . So he softly made the cracks big enough to make their work easy.
The next morning he went with lot of expectations to see the little birds out of the eggs without struggle. He was disappointed to see there was no change. It was same as he had kept the day before.
For the next couple of days it went on. The eggs remained the same . There was no movement. Then one day he was shocked to see lot of ants all over the eggs and found all the tiny birds dead inside.
His heart ached to see this . He was very sad. His friend who saw him asked the reason. When he told what had happened , his friend told, ” You are the reason for their death. Out of your love n expectation you killed them. “

“Me ? How?”
“Yes , only you are responsible.
When the little birds are ready to come out , their little wings and legs will move slowly giving it strength. It will break open the shell with the help of its beak n body. It is a natural process . If you had left it their way by now all the little ones must have come out and flew from their nest in a few days. A normal delivery would have happened.
The gardener was shattered when he realised his folly.
As parents we are doing the same to our children. We protect them with so much care and precautions to safe guard them from any pain or suffering.
We fail to make them know the value of sweat, the worth of labour and the struggling path to success. We want to give them all ready in a platter. Our mentality is’ I’ve suffered a lot. My children should not’.
We forget that our overprotective love will make them weak and some day when they face life with its realities , they will suffer.
Let us make them walk the path and watch them grow as individuals with inner strength. When needed be there to guide. How long can they walk catching your fingers. Let them walk alone. Let them fall and learn to rise on their own. Let them make their own path . Watch them from a distance. Applaud them.
This is not a bird’s story.
It is a life lesson for our children.

On Kindness

We must realise how vulnerable life is, but beyond feeling victimized and create further suffering due to negative thoughts…
We need to respond with empathy, show unity through kindness and compassionate deeds.
The power of kindness is truly infinite.
KINDNESS IS THE PRAYER IN ACTION.
Be kind…to yourself as well!

Kindsight

With a rich imprint of lessons

The past is behind you

Full of hope & promise

The future is yet to reveal itself

The now is the present

It shows up in myriad ways.

Can we learn from the past

And apply it to this moment

Can we shape this now

And make it matter

Can we breathe in kindness

And make a difference

For this now and forever.

All we need is a willingness

To accept a shift in perspectives.

Grounding

The roots are anchor of the soul

Bridging past to the present

Roots hold on to learnings from our ancestors

And absorb the wisdom of life

They are meant to keep the faith

In the truth of every life.

Each of us

Each of us have unique abilities and limitless potential…

To approach the beauty in  possibilities
To create and develop something  out of almost nothing
To reduce recycle and regenerate,
To makes things come alive.

Each of us has access to bits and pieces of a puzzle
That is awaiting  fitment
Each of us needs a step taken
In confidence ,
To connect pieces of the puzzle
To build a bridge of thoughts
through actions
That can create new shifts in perspectives
Alter the existing , springforth new inventions
And bring  out the new in the old.
For its awaiting us, to explore, to discover
This infinite grace of  abundance called life.
And ‘Each of us ‘
Truly can.

What’s going to matter?

What’s going to  Matter
Is the way we use our skills
Each of us is uniquely  blessed
But how we choose to be
Is in our hands
Skills are just tools
But your emotions  and thoughts can alter life
Let it guide you to do better
Transform your attitude  to life and  living
Life evolves for the better.

A new beginning

A new day

A new role

A new path

Paving way

For the start of something new

Inhaling to align in the new

Exhaling to let go the spurious

All in hope, trust, faith

And belief in the way

Of true abundance.

Positive Thinking

A Great Share

A young woman was sitting at her dining table, worried about taxes to be paid, house-work to be done and to top it all, her family was coming over for Thanksgiving the next day. She was not feeling very thankful at that time. As she turned her gaze sideways, she noticed her young daughter scribbling furiously into her notebook. “My teacher asked us to write a paragraph on “Negative Thanksgiving” for homework today.” said the daughter, “She asked us to write down things that we are thankful for, things that make us feel not so good in the beginning, but turn out to be good after all.”

With curiosity, the mother peeked into the book. This is what the daughter had written:
“I’m thankful for Final Exams, because that means school is almost over. I’m thankful for bad-tasting medicine, because it helps me feel better. I’m thankful for waking up to alarm clocks, because it means I’m still alive.” It then dawned on the mother, that she had a lot of things to be thankful for! She thought again… She had to pay taxes but that meant she was fortunate to be employed. She had house-work to do but that meant she had her own home to live in. She had to cook for her family for Thanksgiving but that meant she had a family with whom she could celebrate.

Moral:We generally complain about the negative things in life but we fail to look at the positive side of it. What is the positive in your negatives?
Look at the better part of life this day and make it a great day”

A strange life

State of times we live in

We are connected to people across the world

But have no time to see what is going on above the screen

Our vision is narrowed although we boast of thousands of connections

Our immediate family and friends are all online

Our children are too busy with their smartphones…

Yes there is a screen in front of us , and we are getting oblivious

To what’s beyond it!

Life is truly stranger every day to us.

And we are becoming strangers to life!

Learnings

True learning happens when we realize we are the teacher and we are the student. And life teaches the greatest lessons without anyone uttering a word or at times in just the sheer presence of a good soul.

Likewise as we move from our hearts and open ourselves to realization and acceptance of new possibilities… true learnings happens!

The Art of Slow.

Whoever thinks being slow is a weakness
Has not understood its power

In being able to slow down
The propensity to think carefully
To pay attention to detail
To be mindful & cautious
To work with precision
Steadiness and thoroughness
Increases manifold.

In slowing down, nature teaches
Great lessons in letting go
Like time cannot be contained
Moments are meant to flow
It’s own course
Yet the strength of the slow
Is in the ability to live the now
Recognizing the value of life.

There is an art of the slow
Where the senses activate
And creativity enhances
In thinking and reflecting
In careful consideration
Slow is challenging for some
Yet slow can be earnest practice of mindfulness
Slow begets a response than reaction
Slow can be about building up gradually
And exploring the possibilities
Of the potential in this now.

Slow can be a deliberation
In patience & perseverance
With  an effortless grace
Such is the art of the slow.

Lightness of being

Life is full of challenges
Along the way
For each and every being
In their own unique ways…

Am reminded  of the saying…
It’s never about the weight
But the way you carry it.

Lightness of being
Is knowing how to steer
Through the hurdles
In effortless grace.

Beautiful to witness

The ways of nature

Sometimes maneuvering

At times adjusting.

But mostly thriving.

No matter the odds.

On Prayer

Profound truth of Prayer

A prayer is a resonance to  the self.
Often misunderstood are the recitations and stories of God

As offerings in prayers.
Oft repeated to children in their growing years
Or often in communion of like minded souls.
It’s never about  reaching out to distant God
But about connection with the God  within
Invoking the divinity  in you.

Praising the lord
Hymns or chants
Slokas or mantras

Is about healing & transformation of  the self
In consistent practice
It generates positivism
Purifying  the energy
And creating goodwill
In thoughts and deeds.

Like exercises for the body

They exercise the mind

To think & evolve for the better.
