Be like a cat

“When a cat falls out of a tree, it lets go of itself. The cat becomes completely relaxed, and lands lightly on the ground. But if a cat were about to fall out of a tree and suddenly make up its mind that it didn’t want to fall, it would become tense and rigid, and would be just a bag of broken bones upon landing.
In the same way, it is the philosophy of the Tao that we are all falling off a tree, at every moment of our lives. As a matter of fact, the moment we were born, we were kicked off a precipice, and we are falling, and there is nothing that can stop it.
So instead of living in a state of chronic tension, and clinging to all sorts of things that are actually falling with us because the whole world is impermanent, be like a cat.”

~ Alan Watts

Being a cat

Is about feeling ease

Not only in body

Built for speed

With flexibility of spine

Creating elasticity

In the cushioning

But also in their brains

Integrating moves creating agility

With remarkable coordination.

And powerful reflexes

Cats are graceful

In acceptance of the flow

There is ease of doing

Which lands them safe.

When you accept

Life is a but a dance in the flow

You begin to ease

In the ups and downs

You know life is a flux

Change is the only constant

You flow with effortless ease

Be like a cat…

Secret of Success

Secret of success
A ten year old Japanese boy dreamt of becoming a judo champion. But he didn’t have his left hand. Judo is hard to learn even for a fittest person. What will this disabled boy do.

He went to many masters in vain. Atlast one master agreed. The training started. He taught him a single attack for days together. Months went by. The teacher didn’t teach him anything else. He was disheartened.
Master how this one attack is enough. Pl. Teach me more.
Master replied, you become expert in this one attack, that is enough.
He can’t disobey his master. The training continued.

The championship tournament started.
First round. A fully trained opponent n this boy who has learnt just one attack. The boy won to everyone’s surprise.

Second, third, he won till the semi finals. He won that too.

The finals. The opponent has won many championships. He felt pity n rediculance on seeing his one handed opponent. First round started. The boy couldn’t stand the champion’s attack. He fell down. All took pity on him and wanted to stop the competition.
The master said, no, he will fight the second round.
The champion became overconfident. He removed his helmet and started to fight with a little laid back attitude . The boy attacked the only way he knew with full force. The champion fell down. The boy won the championship. None, even the boy couldn’t believe what happened.

Later, the boy bowed his master and asked him how he won knowing one single attack.
Master smiled and said, two reasons for your success. One , you have mastered one of judo’s most powerfull attack. Second, there is only one way to defend this attack for the opponent. He has to catch your left hand, which in your case he can’t.. Your weakness became your strength and made you a champion.
The boy stood in wonder and bowed in reverence.
If we all know how to turn our weakness as our strength and learn to face life with its challanges success is not far. Life has given every individual a uniqueness. Use it wisely.

Sense of Infinity

When I sit alone watching the dance of my breath ,
Witnessing the thoughts that arise like waves,.
Aware of my breath passing through my every cell,
Awakening to the transient nature of all,
Detatching gradually from the external me,
My inner eye witness the illuminated real I,
Connecting with the Cosmos in harmony,
Envelops the sense of infinity.
Where all is one ,
One is all.
The Blissful Eternal Truth.

When the truth tumbles…

Life as a couple

Has its own challenges

Yet what matters is trust

In a loving relationship.

Trust that makes you feel safe

That makes you sense security

And value for being you.

To be heard, & loved as you are.

Often expectations from one partner

To toe the line and accept everything

Brings in uncomfortable silences

Or unwanted arguments and conflicts

Breaking a relationship gradually.

Perhaps it is about negligence

Or lack of consideration & care

Perhaps it’s about lack of empathy

Or even inequality that creates a gap

That widens in time and cracks

The strongest of partners.

Compromise or need

May keep them staying together

Just existing not living a life.

The show goes on…

Until it one day becomes unbearable.

And the inevitable truth tumbles.

These words above are deeply interlinked in the flow of thoughts that arose after I read a translation by my mother from a Tamil quote forwarded on Social media.

Interesting to note it is from a divorced husband after 10 years of realization.

‘Don’t show your pride before your wife.
She came to you just believing in you
Not your relatives.

My property
My earnings
My will
Then who is she?
What is the meaning of her life with you?

Can’t she have her dreams, her  desires, to be fulfilled with you?

On reading this message

Something more rankled my mind

The question of expectations

To be fulfilled by the partner.

It’s never about needs

Being fulfilled by the other

But with one another.

In todays world

It’s about finding time

To be present in the now

With one another.

How many agree?

Finding our pathway

In this rut of routine…

That’s our so called lifestyle

In pursuit of our dreams,

We forget the purpose of our existence.

When the limbs and mind get tired

we start searching,

the meaning of our life.

It is never too late.

In just a little effort

To step out of our own ways

Many paths open up…

That leads us to walk on

Until we find our own way.

In the depth of silence

In the depth of silence
Is the dance of stillness
Unfolding untold stories
Echoing in pathways as destiny
Are dreams of the masterplanner

Embracing the solitude
Gracing the silence
There is a hush
Without a whisper
A painting evolves
Sparking the soul

As the brush gently glides
Texturing  a tapestry of weaves
Of infinite intentions
Forging the known and unknown

Finding the souls sanctuary
Setting the cadence
Through the choice of the soul
Aligning the narrative
In the quietude of the inner balance
Destinies entwine.

Strength of the Soul

Never does the human soul appear so strong as when it foregoes revenge and dares to forgive an injury.
Edwin Hubbel Chapin

The strength of the soul
Is in allowing the fluidity of the flow
Of acceptance of possibilities.
In the flexibility of feelings
To adapt to the changes.
In foregoing retribution
And forgiving the past.
Evolving in the flow.

Zen of Oneness

In the unison
Of the mind& body
Is the integrity
Of the Spirit & Soul

Oneness eases itself
In alignment
In the divinity
Is the state of zen

Are you OK?

The person who tries to live alone will not succeed as a human being. His heart withers if it does not answer another heart. His mind shrinks away if he hears only the echoes of his own thoughts and finds no other inspiration.
Pearl S. Buck

Nurture life nurture living
Care for one another
Each of us need one another
For we are not meant to be alone
We are meant to live and love
In this life we have.
This world is meant to coexist.

If each of us take a step
To reach out as humans
To nurture life and living
In love & compassion
In empathy & care
To be humane and inclusive
As simple as checking
With those closest to you.
Asking them a single question
Are you OK? And truly listen.
Our actions can be transformative
Sending a message of care.
Making the world around us
A whole lot better.

If you find someone lonely
Reach out with this message
In hope and trust in care.

Are you OK?

On life

Life is born
Thoughts arise
Creativity spurts
Dreams envisioned
Passions pursued
In hope of dawn.
Yet night falls
Beween the dawns
Some dreams shatter
In the darkness unknown
While some see
The light of day!
And Life is bettered
Such is the circle of life
Flowing in a rhythm
Of its own making!
Every Life chalks it’s path in time
Arrives its meaning for itself
The journey is unparalleled
And uniquely carved.
Such is the very nature of life
And at every moment
One can’t help
But wonder…
Such is the wonder of life!

Sponge Heart

There is a profound Croatian saying

by Tea Obrecht –

“Is your heart a sponge or a fist?”

What is your first thought on this?

The human heart is continually operating as a muscular pump, contracting on average 80 times per minute to propel 9 tons of blood through body tissues each day.

Heart is a resilient organ

It keeps on beating through life.

In a lifetime it acts like a sponge

Yet it squeezes itself in every beat

Cleansing to regenerate itself.

Heart is resilient as a fist

Yet open to receive & share love

Heart is intelligent in its intuition

Courageous and compassionate

Caring loving and humane

For after all humanity is heart centric.
