On Respect

What is respect?

Respect is an understanding
Of another life right to be.
To express and be acknowledged.
Respect is deeply entwined in true humility .
To be humble enough to accept that there is always  something more to learn.
To explore, know & acknowledge.

In my stints, as a Consultant & Mentor I have been privy to many interviews  for Senior  leadership positions  I have noticed often enough  that the decline of respect is directly proportional to higher job titles. And  so is incline for the need for self respect.
Let me explain, in the years of experience garnered over the years often there an increase in self – confidence  so much so that the need to be seen as important takes over in conversations.

I witnessed an interview to hire a VP Human Resources  by the CEO. The candidate was a lady in her 40s and the CEO interviewing her in his fifties. Age apart the interview  exchange veered in the direction  of Corporate Culture. In  her steering the  communication  in the direction of her  association  with brands and people, throwing out top industry names than her personal achievements,  she also began  calling the CEO by name , without checking if it was fine by him.
The fact was 250 employees  of the company used to greet & address him respectfully  and here this candidate, choose to address him directly  by first name without a proper professional salutation ahead of the name.

While it was fine as she didn’t know anything about the culture of the company, it was a sign of lack of acknowledgement by the candidate of the cultural hierarchies  and shows  the  inflexibility and rigidity  to align with others.  A sign of ego and need for value for self  but lack of empathy  for another.

So inspite of the candidate  ticking  other boxes on the requirements  list she was rejected.
Don’t get me wrong it was not because  she did not care for professional  salutations  but more importantly  because  it was a sign of defiance to protocol and  authority.

A team needs one leader and like too many cooks spoil the broth, too many non compliant leaders will wreck havoc in any organisation.
For work is worship as the saying goes…and the
ability to respect the work one does and the workplace that is inclusive becomes  paramount in  list of best work practices.

For even if the  candidate  had been onboarded the team would eventually sense a lack of cultural fitment in her soon. So no matter the degrees the education  in reputed universities, the travel abroad and working in MNCs  a simple life’skill of giving due respect  wherever necessary is a valuable skill.  For no ones loses anything by it. Actually respect given, is trust gained.

After all every part of the world has its unique culture practices, it would be good to be safe than sorry by treading with care & respecting and acknowledging the differences.

After all respect is not taking another for granted.

Language of love

Words are mere words

Trying to justify the senses

A tool for expression

Language has its own limitations

And what to speak of love

For love is limitless

In its depth of feeling

Expansive in its reaching

Far beyond words in the knowing.

Language of love

Is best spoken sensed

From one heart to another

And what to speak of mother’s love

Unconditional in its flow

Sensed and known without a word

A bliss in the bless.

Pure and precious.

Happiness

A great share to remind yourself to check your current state of being. .

If only happiness can be summed up…

How easy it would seem!

But happiness can be elusive

When summoned it is often fleeting

But being able to take stock of your being

Will keep you aware

Of how much happiness is an inside job…

Treasure of happiness

Try to make at least one person happy every day. If you cannot do a kind deed, speak a kind word. If you cannot speak a kind word, think a kind thought.

Count up, if you can, the treasure of happiness that you would dispense in a week, in a year, in a lifetime!
Lawrence G. Lovasik

Loved the message in the quote…Build a treasure of happiness.

The Power of the Heart

Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment.
Mahatma Gandhi

The Power of the Heart

What is your kind of power?

Power of Influence

Where your charisma

And your words and behavior

Hold them in sway

And allows you to lead

Or is it Dominance

Where your overt assertion

Makes you take charge

Wherever you are

Do you lead with your heart

Or is it all about the mind

The way you weild your power

Speaks much of you as a person

Are you powerful enough

To let love be felt & expressed

To have patience in waiting

To listen keen to what’s unsaid

To know that being gentle is strength.

Always remember the path of the heart

Is far powerful than the mind.

For its far expansive it knows the way.

On Self Belief

It’s easy to get caught up in seeking validation and approval from others, but the truth is that the only person you truly need to impress is yourself.

You are enough, just as you are, and your worth doesn’t depend on the opinions or actions of others. When you recognize your own value and believe in yourself, you can accomplish anything you set your mind to.

Learning to be comfortable in your own skin and trusting in your own abilities can take time, but it’s a journey worth taking.

When you focus on cultivating a positive relationship with yourself, you’ll find that you’re happier, more confident, and better equipped to handle life’s challenges. Remember, you don’t need anyone else’s approval or validation to be happy and fulfilled. You are enough, simply by existing as you are.

It’s common to fall into the trap of seeking validation and approval from others, but the reality is that your self-worth isn’t dependent on the opinions or actions of others. You are enough, and improving yourself from where you are, is the only thing that truly matters. By recognizing your own value and having faith in yourself, you can achieve anything you set your mind to.

Developing a positive relationship with yourself and being comfortable with who you are takes time, but it’s a worthwhile journey.

By prioritizing your own well-being and self-belief, you’ll discover a greater sense of happiness, confidence, and resilience.

Remember that your happiness and fulfillment don’t require external validation or approval.

You are enough simply by being you.

What is it to dance?

We dance to let go, To enjoy this now. And celebrate it and find ourselves again.
In awareness is a flow, that merges in harmony to synch in with this now, in artistry of the moves… this is the truth of what it is, to dance!

A Reason To Be

Sometimes you sense
Life taking you to places
Leading you to pathways  Moving towards you.
Sometimes you notice
Signs that speak to you
Appearing and disappearing. From anywhere to nowhere.
It’s for you to understand
The significance of the signs
Now is the time to free your mind,
To listen in keen awareness,
And trust in the Universe There is always a reason
Nothing is coincidental.

On listening

“To listen entails a fundamental letting go of self-centeredness. We have to be willing to put down our own thoughts, views, and feelings temporarily to truly listen.”

Oren Jay Sofer

Power of listening

Is in self control

In hearing to understand

The when, what, where, who & how

In curiousity patience and wonder

In caring to empathise

And connect without interrupting.

In knowing to balance the spoken words

By truly caring to hear with all of you…

Relationships heal in the listening.

Blossom as you are

A flower doesn’t stop being beautiful just because somebody walks by without noticing it, nor does it cease to be fragrant if its scent is taken for granted. The flower just continues to be its glorious self: elegant, graceful, and magnificent.

Our Mother Nature has provided us with these immeasurably valuable teachers that blossom despite their short lifespan, stars that continue to shine even if we fail to stare at them, and trees that don’t take it personally if we never bow down in gratitude for the oxygen they provide.

We also have an incredible and unlimited capacity to love, but the question is: Can we do it like a flower? Without needing to be admired, adored, or even noticed? Can we open our hearts completely to give, forgive, celebrate, and joyfully live our lives without hesitation or need for reciprocity?

It seems like sometimes we go beyond taking things personally and are noticeably deflated when unappreciated. In fact, devastated, we wilt in sorrow and then attempt to guard ourselves by withholding, using all sorts of protections and defenses. We get hurt (even angry) if our boss fails to recognize an astonishing feat, if a lover pulls their hand away, or when a friend forgets our birthday. Can you imagine a flower copping an attitude for not being praised, or the moon dimming its glow because we’re too self-absorbed to notice it more often?

Make an effort to shine NO MATTER WHAT, to love unconditionally, and to be a kind and gentle soul (even when nobody is watching).

And, if you’re so inclined, hug the next tree you see and say, “Thank you!”

On Trees

LARGEST TREE IN THE WORLD
Location : Giant Forest of Sequoia National Park in Tulare County, California, USA.
The General Sherman Tree is the world’s largest tree, measured by volume. It stands 275 feet (83 m) tall, and is over 36 feet (11 m) in diameter at the base. Sequoia trunks remain wide high up. Sixty feet above the base, the Sherman Tree is 17.5 feet (5.3 m) in diameter.

Was wondering of the lifetime experiences that this tree must have been through.

Of how many seasons it must have seen

Of how it must have survived through the storms

As well as enjoyed the beauty of springtines

Of the countless lives it must have generously sheltered

And continues to do so….

Strengthened by nature

Thriving in the surviving

A Salute to the tree.
