To swim and surface Is daring the waves. Like any ocean surfer knows We are all equal before a wave. While you may not be able to control everything And learning curve may be steep You adapt to ride the waves. For waves are a part of the flow In the cycle of life. A wise leader knows the highs and lows Are part of the same flow.
How do you navigate the challenges of life by staying practical?
Acknowledging changes by being adaptable Yet standing up for what you believe, and saying no assertively, when you want to say no, without fear and doubts of what people will say.
Staying humble and grateful yet dedicated & focussed , no matter the vagaries of life.
Being able to move on from errors or failures, without becoming stagnant.
Being kind to oneself with self care.
And then most importantly allowing every failure to become stepping stones of learnings.
At times just when a coach knows it’s progress the client wants to give up.
They may feel the changes are not enough or there may be other personal factors that may be inhibiting their success. It is important to acknowledge their emotions at the moment and celebrate small wins precisely showing how far they have come. As a coach being empathic & encouraging while being flexible and adaptable as you adjust strategies for the way forward aids and facilitates progress.
Often clients face doubt and overwhelm at some point or the other. It is important then to remind them of their why and guide them to stay on course.
In a group setting as a life coach it is important to balance power dynamics.
It is important to create a space of mutual respect and understanding.
Being inclusive creates an expansion of thoughts and ideas in openness tolerance and acceptance of new possibilities.
In a group setting it is important to hold space by balancing participation through inclusive ways like encouragement appreciation and rewarding contributions. This ensures the power dynamics are kept in check by empathic approach and moderation by allowing space for all to speak up, so as to prevent lopsided conversations.
Have you had any such experience as a team member ?
Do share your experiences of power dynamics at play in group setting.
And I love this inspiration that I came across in my readings today…
Because forgiveness is like this:
A room can be dark because you have closed the windows, you’ve closed the curtains. But the sun is shining outside, and the air is fresh outside. In order to get that fresh air, you have to get up and open the window and draw the curtains apart. Desmond Tutu
