A calmer perspective

I have received this poem below through a  social media forward.

And I think I needed to read it today.

It put many things in perspective.

You see, there have been some small and inexpensive things missing at home . We have two house helpers And I was not sure who is the culprit.

They have been with us for a while and I have senior parents who live at home  so I was letting it go and keep calm,  because it was easier as it was causing a lot of unnecessary confusion and doubt.

In the meantime two months ago I replaced one of them.  And I had felt a sense of relief somehow. And today the other is about to go  on  leave for the customary annual holiday.  It will mean a lot of work for me  personally until I find a helper. Yet I have been feeling positive that better is happening and all is for a good reason.  Sometimes we grin and bear for the fear of changing statesquo…

While I cannot get my lost things as I have no proof, I think I needed a calm perspective to  help me find me a way…

While I do believe that we must take action on that which is within our control , these words touched a chord in me..

This being human is a guest house.

Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,

some momentary awareness comes

as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!

Even if they are a crowd of sorrows,

who violently sweep your house

empty of its furniture,

still, treat each guest honorably.

He may be clearing you out

for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice.

Meet them at the door laughing and invite them in.

Be grateful for whatever comes.

Because each has been sent

as a guide from beyond.

CUPS OF TIME

The King and the Weaver

One day, a king went hunting. On his journey, he stayed overnight at the house of a weaver who lived along the way. The weaver and his family did not know that their guest was the king. They assumed he was just a hunter and offered him a place to stay.

The next morning, when the king woke up, he saw the weaver starting his work. The weaver had a rope tied to his left hand. Curious, the king asked, “What is that rope tied to your hand?”

The weaver replied, “This rope is to rock the cradle. If the baby cries, I pull this rope to soothe it.”

The king then noticed a long stick near the weaver and asked, “What is this stick for?”

The weaver said, “My wife has spread grains outside to dry in the sun. I’ve tied a black flag to the other end of this stick. When I wave it, birds don’t come near the grains.”

The king also saw small bells tied around the weaver’s waist and asked, “What are these bells for?”

The weaver explained, “We have a mouse in the house. When it comes near, I shake these bells, and it runs away.”

The king then noticed a few children standing outside the weaver’s house and asked, “What are they doing there?”

The weaver replied, “While weaving, I teach them whatever I know. They listen to my lessons from outside.”

The king asked, “Why don’t you let them inside?”

The weaver answered, “Their ears are here to listen to the lessons, but I also make them knead the mud in front of the house with their feet while listening. This way, they learn and help at the same time.”

The king was amazed at how the weaver managed so many tasks simultaneously. The weaver added, “That’s not all. My wife is a Greek woman. Every day, she writes ten Greek words on a slate for me to learn. While working, I also practice those words.”

The weaver demonstrated that if one desires, it is possible to learn, teach, work, and take care of the household all at once. His diligence left the king astonished.

I received this story in Tamil but since I wanted to share across this here, this is an AI translation.

There is so much to understand and interpret  from this….

Here are my thoughts on this…

Cups of time…

If there is will & dedicated intent

Much can be accomplished.

Our life is a precious gift

So much to discover & learn from

And there is so much for each of us to do.

Let’s fill the cups of time

Doing the best we can

Let’s never waste our life away…

That is the way to thrive.

What are your thoughts on this story?

Strength of Interconnects

Sometimes what’s truly profound

Can be profoundly simple.

The strength of interconnects

Is about the strength in self support

In the world of design

What seems complex

Could be extremely simple.

In the way of interweave

In the intersection of the interconnects.

All is in the strength

In the sum of the intersections.

The Bridge of Safety

Leonardo Da Vinci’s Self Supporting Bridge. Leonardo Da Vinci was an artist, inventor and engineer in the 15th century.  His vision and calibre of mind allowed him to comprehend the twin worlds of science and art; he has
often been described as the archetype of the “Renaissance man”, a man whose seemingly infinite curiosity was equalled only by his powers of invention . He was a master of innovation, ingenuity and engineering.
He invented the self supporting bridge sometime between 1485-1487 to be used as an emergency bridge for troops in times of war. This unique design is held together by its own weight without requiring any ties or connections, in fact when a downward force is applied to the structure the braced members are forced to interlock and tighten together through the structural concepts of shear and bending. Da Vinci called it “The Bridge of Safety”.

Life changing moment

Speaking about few years ago, getting a major surgery that was absolutely necessary was life  changing. It improved the quality  of my life. I reclaimed my life became even more alive, post it.

Though I chose not to focus on the difficulties,  I do have a lesson learned.
Lesson :  Address health issues as they come in.Never ignore or delay what is necessary. It only complicates. It has been a blessing  and I always will thank my doctor for this second lease of life I have.
Grateful 🙏

Take care of your self.

What is your one life changing moment?

The divinity within

When every breath is a consciousness
In awareness
Of the divine energy of life.

Of its presence in every inhale and exhale.
Between two breaths  and the spaces within.

But this awareness  needs cultivation…

Of  mindful breathing  as a practice for a life time.
In it is the spirit of life
And our own spirituality… influenced and constituted,  strengthened in each mindful breath
Hopefully…
A work in progress✨️ 🙏✨️

Fleeting moments

There is beauty in this now

But a sadness in letting go

Learning to appreciate this now

And accept the changing moments

As part of every now

Helps envision beyond what is

For all is transient.

Life lessons from trees

Trust trees to teach us

The lessons in living life

In adaptation to change

In flexibility & resilience

In sustaining for the future

In giving,  sharing & letting go

Knowing the significance

Of bonds and boundaries

In networking and communication

Of perseverance in bearing fruits

To trust and wait in patience

And so much more…

Above all in faith, hope & self belief

To grow from a seed to a tree.

The way you write

The way you dance

The way you talk

The way you live

Share much about you

Express without fear

It’s good for you.

Remember…

Sharing at times can make you vulnerable

But it can open you up to the strength within.

Entrepreneurship truths

Workers want to be Executives

Executives  want to be Managers

Managers want to be Leaders

Leaders want to be Founders

Founders want to be Investors

Investors want profits over people.

Truth is…

Even if one of them are there for the right reasons, it starts to make a meaningful difference.

Daring the unknown

Our conditioning has a role to play in the way we see people and things around us. To trust is to dare into the unknown.

Just read this interesting article …

19 professionals walk through unknown villages for 3 days — without a single rupee | Pune News – The Indian Express

https://indianexpress.com/article/cities/pune/19-professions-walk-through-unknown-villages-for-3-days-without-a-single-rupee-9583205/

Amazing to read about these Braveheart  who dared to experience  first hand  self-belief beyond fear…and who came back enriched with experiences.

Touching to read  about the kindhearted  people who came their way like saviours.

Pretty sure  they may all have had some life altering experiences in one way or another.

Against all odds

Breaking the rut of routine

In forging new pathways

Beyond fear for survival

All preconceived notions fall

In the dare into  the unknown.

Write drunk. Edit Sober.

‘Write Drunk

Edit Sober.”

Attributed to Hemingway this line  is a little gem in itself .

Here is my take…

As a writer give in

To flights of fancy

Give in to the dance

Of Imagination.

Be drunk with joy

Of writing with all of you.

Enjoy the immersion

Embody your uniqueness

And flow with the words .

Sense the delights in disarray

Just write on…

As you edit

Stay sober

Be attentive

Be mindful

And aware.

And patient

With yourself.

Most of all

Be here in the now.

Savvy

Ps :I write for joy… so have always enjoyed writing  in a flow though never drunk , I confess I  have enjoyed  the waltz with words as it flows often on.  And yet I also know I have a lots to  learn about editing. It’s still a work in progress.

What are your thoughts on this ?

Perfect imperfections

Perfection is never the inspiration for nothing is perfect always.

Acknowledging ones imperfections & managing it with grace is true inspiration.

The need for perfection creates undue pressure. Being able to work on the journey without undue pressure can be joyful journey.

What are your thoughts?
